Liverpool are moving for Darwin Nunez and the Benfica striker appears interested in the move in part due to Luis Diaz’s impact.
Most of the focus around Liverpool of late has been on Sadio Mane and his likely exit.
The Senegalese attacker is out of contract in 2023 and, rather than sign a new deal, seemingly wants to move on.
Liverpool need to find a replacement though and they appear to be closing in on a blockbuster deal.
Liverpool are moving for Darwin Nunez
The man Liverpool want is Benfica goal machine Darwin Nunez and a deal is advancing rapidly.
Portuguese newspaper Record reported on Wednesday that Liverpool had offered €100million (£85million) to sign Nunez.
It now increasing looks like Nunez will make a club-record move to Anfield and give Liverpool an enormous goalscoring threat.
Nunez scored in two Champions League games against Liverpool this past season and Virgil van Dijk indicated that he is ‘very similar’ to Manchester City-bound Erling Haaland.
Capable of playing out wide as well as up front, Nunez is a bigger, more physical presence than Mane but could revolutionise Liverpool’s attack.
90Min now claim that Nunez has been keenly watching Luis Diaz’s impact at Liverpool, seemingly believing that he can do the same.

Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January and became an instant hit with Liverpool fans.
Liverpool could now dip back into the Portuguese market by signing Nunez from Porto’s rivals Benfica.
Nunez will have seen how Diaz took to life in the Premier League and no doubt believe that he can do exactly the same.
Diaz was welcomed in by Liverpool players and fans brilliantly, immediately making him feel at home and like an absolutely vital player.
That’s what any new signing wants and with Nunez watching how that unfolded, it seems that he fancies joining Liverpool and mirroring Diaz’s impact.
