Wolves look set to miss out on Al-Musrati with Diario do Minho claiming that the Braga midfielder is in London in order to complete a move to Premier League newcomers Fulham.

After weeks of increasingly sustained speculation, it seems that things are finally coming to together for Marco Silva’s Championship champions.

A deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon might have fallen through but, in Alex Moreno, Fulham are closing in on one of Europe’s most potent left-backs. Talks are underway with Copa del Rey winners Real Betis regarding a bargain £12 million deal for the swashbuckling Spaniard.

With players as adventurous and attack-minded as Moreno making their home in Silva’s starting XI, Fulham will need a more defensively-minded player to provide balance, security and to keep things tight at the other end of the pitch.

Enter Al-Musrati; a 6ft 4ins midfield colossus, the industrial-strength superglue that could keep this forward-thinking Fulham side together.

Talks with the 40-time Libya international began last month. Marco Silva is reportedly a big fan of a player who averages far more tackles (2.1) and interceptions (1.4) per game than any of the midfielders currently plying their trade at Craven Cottage (WhoScored).

Fulham will beat Wolves to Al-Musrati signing

Al-Musrati, who should cost somewhere in the region of £13 million, also has admirers at Wolves. According to Diario do Minho, however, he’s now touched down in London in order to dot the Is and the cross the Ts with Fulham instead.

“I saw many of his games in the Portuguese league and many others in the Europa League. You could see his importance to the team. He had a great season,” Libya coach Corentin Martins tells A Bola.

“He has quality, gives rhythm to the game, calms the play or provides fast passes forward. We also see his tremendous ability for covering the ground. He recovers a lot of balls. He makes me think a little about Danilo, from PSG.”

But fear not Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters.

Bruno Lage should still get his mitts on a 6ft-something, Primeira Liga giant before the summer is out. Long-time target Joao Palhinha appears to be closer than ever to sealing a £20 million switch to Molineux.

According to The Sun, the Sporting Lisbon powerhouse has already ‘agreed’ to became the latest Portuguese-speaker in a very Iberian dressing room.
