PSV Eindhoven are preparing for Ibrahim Sangare’s potential departure as Premier League trio Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Leicester City target the £34 million enforcer, as reported by ED.
When it comes to selling and replacing star men, it’s fair to say PSV have had plenty of practice.
Memphis Depay and Gini Wijnaldum strolled off into the sunset after firing Philipp Cocu’s side to Eredivisie glory in 2015. Since then, Jurgen Locadia, Steven Bergwijn and Davy Propper have also swapped the Eredivisie for England, while Steven Bergwijn, Donyell Malen, Denzel Dumfries and Luuk de Jong all departed for sizeable sums.
Sangare, despite a £34 million release clause in his contract, could be PSV’s next big-money departure.
Voetbal International claims that Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard was in the stands to watch the former Toulouse enforcer in the flesh during PSV’s UEFA Conference League quarter-final clash with Leicester City recently.
Newcastle have also expressed an interest too. As have Leicester themselves, Sangare clearly leaving a lasting impression on Brendan Rodgers and co (The Sun).
Is Ibrahim Sangare heading to the Premier League?

“Ibrahim Sangare is better on one leg than Leicester’s entire midfield. He is the king of PSV,” says Eredivisie legend Aad De Mos.
“Sangare is not only suitable for Leicester, he can also easily join an even bigger club. He can easily play at Tottenham and certainly also at Arsenal. He is better than Albert Lokonga.
“I think 35 million euros is a good price. You need someone like that, who takes the ball and always puts the boot in. And, lately, he has also become dangerous in the opposition penalty area.”
Understandably, with PSV looking to take advantage of the uncertainty facing an Ajax side who recently lost talismanic coach Erik Ten Hag to Manchester United, the 1988 European Champions are hoping to retain Sangare’s services for another year.
According to ED, however, that has not stopped PSV from preparing for the worst-case scenario. Utrecht’s Quentin Timber and KV Mechelen’s Vinicius Souza have been identified as replacements.
