Steven Bergwijn has revealed that he’s mentally all ready to quit Tottenham Hotspur, claiming his suitcase is already packed.

ESPN reported last week that Tottenham would take £21 million for the Netherlands international, amid speculation about Everton and Ajax transfers.

Bergwijn hasn’t started a game for Spurs since way back on January 23 and with the World Cup on the horizon later this year, regular football is paramount.

The 24-year-old scored in a 4-1 drubbing of Belgium last week to make it five goals in his last four Dutch outings.

And the former PSV Eindhoven winger has reiterated his intention to leave the Lilywhites.

He said via Ajax Showtime: “Now is the time to leave. You could say that my suitcase is already packed. I cannot afford another season like this. And it’s tough mentally too.”

Clearly Antonio Conte has virtually no long-term plan for him, which is a shame because Bergwijn, on his day, can be a gamechanger for Tottenham.

He started the season strongly under Nuno Espirito Santo, starting Spurs’ first three Premier League encounters – all of which were victories.

However, the Portuguese manager’s sacking is reported by The Athletic to have upset Bergwijn and that arguably set a miserable tone for life under Conte.
