Steven Bergwijn leaving Tottenham Hotspur appears to be growing a lot more realistic.

The former PSV Eindhoven attacker admitted in May that he was strongly thinking about quitting the North London club.

He hasn’t started a game for Tottenham since January 23, despite his heroics in scoring two stoppage-time goals which ultimately proved massive in helping Spurs qualify for the Champions League.

According to De Telegraf today in the Netherlands, the Lilywhites have already rejected an offer from Ajax for the Dutch international, who cost £27 million in 2020 [BBC Sport].

And now ESPN has reported how much the Premier League outfit are looking for.

According to ESPN, Tottenham want £21 million for the 24-year-old, giving them a £7 million loss on their investment if they successfully sell him for that price.

The report has added that no offer for the player has been more than £17 million as of yet.

Some supporters might be sad to see him go.

Leaving aside his heroics at Leicester City last season, this is someone who scored on his debut, in a victory over Manchester City no less.

His Tottenham career couldn’t have possibly had a better start, but consistency problems have plagued him throughout and honestly, a departure makes complete sense.

That’s particularly true when you consider that Antonio Conte now has another wide player in the form of Ivan Perisic, signed for free earlier this week following the expiration of his Inter Milan contract.

It remains to be seen when, but Steven Bergwijn leaving Tottenham Hotspur is inevitable.
