Corentin Tolisso was heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur and is now leaving Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

With the season now over in most European countries, we’re now into the stage where contract decisions are being made.

Players all over the continent are coming to the end of their contracts on June 30th, and most of them know whether they are staying or going.

We have just seen Antonio Rudiger join Real Madrid whilst Tottenham have pounced for Ivan Perisic.

Fabio Paratici loves a free transfer and Tottenham may well move for more free additions this summer.

One name that may be on the Tottenham radar is midfielder Tolisso.

Football Italia reported in November that Tottenham were in pole position to beat Inter Milan to the signing of Tolisso.

No January deal materialised but the Frenchman’s contract is now coming to an end this summer.

Tolisso has decided to leave Bayern and Paratici will surely be aware of his availability.

Tolisso, 27, was a star at Lyon before making a big-money move Bayern in 2017.

Injuries have been a major problem for Tolisso and he has sadly been limited to just 72 league appearances in five seasons at Bayern.

That’s a major red flag if Tottenham do look to sign Tolisso this summer, but you can understand the appeal.

A box-to-box midfield player with experience at the highest level, Tolisso could offer competition for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Tolisso has now spoken to L’Equipe about his situation, stating that he thinks his issues are actually psychological rather than physical.

Tolisso is now confident that he can play his best football next season having got to the bottom of his issues.

The midfielder added that he wants to play in England due to the intensity of the football in the Premier League, which Tottenham will surely be aware of as Paratici chases signings.

“I am convinced that [my issues] are more psychological than physical,” said Tolisso. “It’s more in my head than with my body. I worked with a mental coach to put words to what I was going through. Now, I’m 5,000% convinced I can get back to a very high level physically. I’m going to do a one-month training period so that I’m ready for the start of next season.”

“I want to go play a major role in a club. To continue winning trophies. I would be interested in England, with its intensity, but I’m not ruling out any league. I know what I’m capable of. I know to what point a change in my life and in my surroundings will do me good,” he added, as quoted by 90Min.
