TeamTalk claim Leeds have joined by four other clubs in the race to sign Huddersfield Town ace Lewis O’Brien, including Crystal Palace. Southampton, Fulham and Bournemouth also want the midfielder.
O’Brien, 23, failed to help guide his Huddersfield side into the Premier League on Sunday. Carlos Corberan watched on as O’Brien and co. suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, Levi Colwill scoring an own goal.

Leeds were keen on O’Brien last summer, but he ended up signing a new deal. Now, The Sun say that deal includes a release clause worth £10million and the Whites are ready to activate it. Corberan thinks his players will remain.
But TeamTalk say Leeds are not the only club interested. Seven clubs are interested, including Leeds. Palace, Southampton, Bournemouth, Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United all want O’Brien, too.
Palace join Leeds in O’Brien race: £10m midfielder perfect for Prem
He is the ideal kind of addition for bottom-half clubs this summer. O’Brien is young, English, but very experienced for his age. He has already played 131 times for Huddersfield, and 46 times for Bradford during a loan.
O’Brien’s work rate, combined with his array of long and short passing, makes him ideal for Leeds. A younger version of Adam Forshaw, so to speak. Is he worth the £10million fee? Now other clubs are keen, without a doubt.
Not only are you signing a player that could far exceed his £10million price tag, but stopping others from getting him too. Leeds have simply got to move, before it is too late and the likes of Palace snap him up.
