Carlos Corberan has been quoted by MSN as saying he his Huddersfield Town players will want to remain at the club – amid reports Leeds want to sign Lewis O’Brien. The Terriers lost 1-0 in the Championship play-off final.
O’Brien, 23, played out the entire 90 minutes at Wembley on Sunday afternoon. But the defining moment proved to be Levi Colwill’s own goal just before the break. Forest were the beneficiaries, gaining promotion.
Englishman O’Brien has been a long-term target for Leeds, but he signed a new contract last summer after the Whites failed to secure a move. That deal lasts until 2025, but it also includes a £10million clause, as per the Sun.

They say that Leeds are ready to activate that deal, but Corberan has a warning for the club he left to take over at Huddersfield in 2020. He said that he expects his players to remain at the club, despite the play-off loss.
“I will work with the players that we have but I am watching one dressing room. If you ask any of our players to leave, I don’t think they will consider this option. I think they will want to stay. I think they feel well.”

Leeds have brought in Brenden Aaronson from RedBull Salzburg, but O’Brien is a different player. Operating as more of a deep-lying playmaker, O’Brien would partner Kalvin Phillips – or act as cover for the Leeds ace.
Jesse Marsch likes to play a 4-2-3-1 system, or a 4-2-2-2 formation. In either line-up, the two central midfielders operate as more defensive – allowing the attackers to play with freedom. O’Brien would suit Leeds, in that role.
For £10million, he is a bargain. Young, English, and perfect for what Marsch wants. Will he wants to leave Huddersfield? Having lost the play-off final, you would think so. It all depends if Leeds want to stump up the cash.
