The Mirror claim Liverpool have identified Rennes striker Martin Terrier as a potential replacement for Sadio Mane – amid reports Tottenham have tabled an offer for the French ace. Terrier was in electric form last term.

Mane is keen on leaving Liverpool this summer with Bayern Munich the front runners. The Reds will have to sell in the coming months, or face losing him on a free transfer when his contract ends in 2023.

With a move more than likely, Liverpool need a replacement. Terrier, 25, has emerged as a contender – after his 21 goals in 37 Ligue games. That is, despite playing predominantly from the left of the front three.

Reports last month claimed Tottenham have made an offer to sign Terrier, who has had a hand in 45 goals in 84 Rennes outings. He only joined Rennes in the summer of 2020, from Lyon for a fee of £12.5million (GFFN).

Terrier potential replacement for Mane at Liverpool: Reds or Tottenham?

Is he good enough to replace Mane? Probably not, just yet. But he is still young and took Ligue 1 by storm last season. 28 goal involvements from the left flank is absolutely sensational, in a forever-improving league.

He would hardly start for the Reds. Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Mo Salah is the best attacking threesome without Mane. But losing Divock Origi and Mane, Terrier would be an excellent back-up as immediate cover.

Tottenham are also keen but he would only be cover for Son Heung-min and Harry Kane. Liverpool have more openings, and much more chances of winning silverware. Anfield is Terrier’s best move.
