Tottenham have reportedly made an offer to sign Rennes striker Martin Terrier this summer – just a couple of weeks after he spoke about his future. Earlier this month, Terrier opened the door to a possible summer exit.
Terrier, 25, has been in incredible form for Rennes this season. Largely operating on the left flank, the ex-Lyon ace netted 21 times and laid on seven assists. Foot Mercato claim Tottenham have made an offer for Terrier.
Antonio Conte will want to bring in new signings this summer, with top-four now looking a formality. They only need a point against rock-bottom Norwich on Sunday, after Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
Terrier could well be interested. Earlier this month, he spoke to Amazon Prime’s coverage of Ligue 1 – opening the door for a potential exit at Rennes. However, he does also state that he is very happy at the Ligue 1 club.
“We will see how it goes at the end of the season but I am under contract until 2025. I am fulfilled here, I am happy to be here,” Terrier told Amazon Prime on May 7, as quoted by French outlet Jeunes Footeux.
What Tottenham target Terrier has said about future – ideal signing?
Tottenham do have cover for their front three. Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn can come in, while Bryan Gil is out on loan. But they lack a striker, and they lack top-quality cover for Son Heung-min on the left flank.
Bergwijn could go, while Moura is more suited to the right. Gil is better on the left but is out on loan at Valencia and is yet to show why Spurs signed him. Terrier gives Spurs that left-sided option, and cover for Harry Kane.
