Alasdair Gold has told his YouTube channel that Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper wants a reunion with Tottenham defender Joe Rodon. The Wales international could leave the club permanently.
Rodon, 24, has endured a difficult couple of seasons at Tottenham since swapping Swansea for the North London side. In his two years at Spurs, he has managed just 24 senior appearances.
Antonio Conte has described him as a “really, really good player” but continues to prefer Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies as his back three. Davinson Sanchez is the immediate replacement.

Tottenham are reportedly ready to cash in on the defender, who cost them £15million. It remains to be seen what their asking price would be, but Gold claims Rodon has a suitor – in his old Swansea boss Cooper.
“Do they loan him out or do they sell him? There is interest from Forest. Steve Cooper is his former manager. He knows him very well. I’d be stunned if Forest don’t show some real interest in him in the coming weeks.”
Cooper wants reunion with Tottenham defender Rodon
It is the ideal move for Rodon. He would be playing under a manager he knows well, in the Premier League. He would be first choice, getting regular game time under the noses of Tottenham’s staff.
But Spurs should not sell him. They should only loan him to Forest. That is because it gives Rodon the chance to show Conte what he can do, and because Cooper uses a back three – making it the ideal apprenticeship for Spurs.
While a sale could still happen, Spurs would be foolish to let Rodon – who can play anywhere in Conte’s back three – depart this summer. He just needs an injection of confidence and Forest can give him that.
