Goal claim Arsenal director Edu met with the agents of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in London last week, over a move to Arsenal. Tottenham are also linked, with interested clubs needing to pay “far more” than £68million.

Osimhen, 23, has been excellent for Napoli this season, after a okay-ish first campaign. He scored 10 goals in his first season, laying on only three assists in 30 games. This season, he has 18 goals and six assists in 32 outings.

A much better return, and that form has alerted Arsenal. Reports emerged earlier this month that Arsenal are leading the race to sign the £84million-rated striker. Now, it is believed Edu met with the Napoli star’s agent.

Osimhen’s representatives flew into London to meet with Edu last week. Arsenal are aware that a deal to sign the Nigeria star will be difficult to construct. Napoli want more than the £68million they bought him for.

Other reports also claim that Osimhen is one of a number of players on the list at Tottenham, along with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Dom Calvert-Lewin. Spurs have the pull of the Champions League, but have Harry Kane.

Arsenal meet with Osimhen agents: A lot of money, is he worth it?

Osimhen would be an excellent signing, putting money aside. He has goals, he has the pace, the work rate, the attitude – everything required to shine as a striker in Mikel Arteta’s side. A better version of Eddie Nketiah.

But his transfer fee will be enormous. It is likely to exceed their current club-record signing in Nicolas Pepe at £72million. Yes, he will score goals, but he will need time to adapt as proven during his first season in Italy.

The pressure at Arsenal is immense and after coming so close to Champions League qualification in 2021-22, fans will want progression. Osimhen would be a good signing, but there might be better value for money out there.
