Goal claim Arsenal have held preliminary talks to sign Everton star Richarlison ‘in recent weeks’. The Gunners are keeping an eye on the Brazil international and are waiting to see what decision the Toffees star does.
Richarlison, 25, has been excellent for Everton this season, despite a dismal 2021-22 season for the Toffees as a whole. He has scored 11 goals in 33 games, as well as laying on five assists. He has two years left on his contract.
Arsenal are desperate for a new striker, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract at the end of June. Lacazette is said to be edging towards a move to Marseille, who have qualified for the Champions League.
Now, Goal reporter Charles Watts claims Arsenal have held early talks to sign the Everton star – but much depends on what Richarlison wants to do. The report claims Victor Osimhen has also been the subject of Arsenal talks.
Arsenal hold Richarlison talks: Everton star a stunning signing
But it all depends on how much Everton would want. The Toffees are likely to sell one of their big players to ease Financial Fairplay concerns. Richarlison could be the man that departs Everton, with Arsenal keen.
Everton bought the attacker from Watford for a fee of £50million in 2018. It is likely that they will want at least a similar fee for their no.7 – if not more. If they can arrange a fee below £60million, then it is excellent business.
