Everton hope to sign James Tarkowski this summer and are now offering him wages of around £90,000-a-week to make the move from Burnley.
Everton achieved Premier League survival with a game to spare having completed a staggering comeback against Crystal Palace.
From 2-0 down to 3-2 up, Everton secured survival so Sunday’s thrashing at Arsenal didn’t mean all that much.
Burnley weren’t quite so fortunate as they lost 2-1 to Newcastle United, a defeat that sends them down to the Championship.
Burnley will now face the prospect of losing key players with Tarkowski seemingly on his way out of Turf Moor.
Everton hope to sign James Tarkowski
Tarkowski is out of contract this summer and his departure has been expected for some time now.
There has been no indication of Tarkowski signing a new deal and that prospect is surely done and dusted now Burnley are down.
Tarkowski will have many Premier League suitors, especially on a free transfer.
The Mirror reported earlier this month that Newcastle United were poised to sign Tarkowski.
However, The Telegraph now state that Everton are making a strong move to try and pip Aston Villa to Tarkowski’s signing.
It’s stated that Everton have suddenly jumped to the front of the queue to sign Tarkowski.

Everton are offering Tarkowski £90,000-a-week to make the move to Goodison Park.
Frank Lampard has allegedly made a big push to sign Tarkowski, believing he is ideal to bolster Everton’s back line.
Tarkowski, 29, hails from Manchester and may fancy staying around the North West after this spell with Burnley.
A proven Premier League defender with almost 200 top-flight appearances to his name, Tarkowski has been hailed as outstanding by Sean Dyche.
Everton may fear that Tarkowski will go the same way as Michael Keane; highly touted at Burnley but a little more exposed away from Turf Moor.
Yet whilst Keane cost millions, Tarkowski would be a free transfer and could be a great start to the summer for Everton.
