A Takehiro Tomiyasu injury is a massive problem for Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s Premier League visit of Everton.

Arsenal have to beat the Toffees to maximise their chances of pipping Tottenham Hotspur to Champions League qualification.

The Gunners, who are fifth in the table, lost Tomiyasu to injury in the 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United earlier in the week.

It was then reported by Sky Sports that he was one of four players to miss Mikel Arteta’s training session on the Wednesday, prompting concern.

But Football London has reported that the Japan international – labelled ‘world class’ by Ben White this year – has missed Arteta’s latest session at Colney once again and looks unlikely to face Frank Lampard’s side, as reported by The Times yesterday.

Tomiyasu, who joined Arsenal from Bologna last summer, has enjoyed an excellent first season at the Emirates Stadium, but it’s been an injury-ravaged 2022 for him thus far and his campaign looks to be over until next term.

Football London added that Folarin Balogun was spotted at Colney in Arsenal training, though.

Arteta sent the 20-year-old striker on loan to Middlesbrough during the January transfer window but, with the Championship season over, the player has seemingly returned to his parent club until the summer break.

Balogun, labelled incredible by Arteta in 2021, scored three goals in the league during his half-season spell on Teeside but, despite being back with the Gunners’ squad, he is ineligible to face the Merseysiders tomorrow.
