One of a number of strikers Tottenham are targeting this summer is Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak, a player Dejan Kulusevski loves to play with. Back in 2021, Kulusevski heaped praise on his “fast” Sweden teammate.
Isak, 22, has endured a difficult season this time around with Sociedad, after scoring an impressive 17 goals in 34 La Liga appearances last term. This season, he has only got 10 goals. Both Arsenal and Spurs are keen.
Alasdair Gold claims that Isak is not the only striker Tottenham are looking at. The likes of Patrik Schick, Gabriel Jesus, Dom Calvert-Lewin and more are also on their radar. Sport say Isak is valued at £68m, by Sociedad.
Speaking about Isak at Euro 2020, Kulusevski was full of praise. He said that Isak is “very easy to play” with, and outlined what the Arsenal and Spurs target can bring to the table. It might just tempt Spurs into a summer bid.
“He’s good at everything. Good at combining, he is fast. He is good at winning nick duels as we saw today. He is very easy to play with,” Spurs favourite Kulusevski said, as quoted by Teller Report last year.
Kulusevski loves Tottenham target Isak: £68m is far too expensive
You can understand Sociedad wanting to charge top dollar. Isak has a contract with the La Liga side for another four years and they will be desperate to keep him on side, and allow his value to continue to grow.
However, there comes a point where a player stops performing to the levels he is capable of – when his head is turned. Perhaps, the speculation has got to Isak this season, after just six goals in 31 La Liga appearances.
£68million is huge. Spurs could do a lot better for that amount. Especially, as he would play back-up to Harry Kane. Kulusevski loves his side’s latest target Isak, and the combination might just be the future of Tottenham.
