Ian Wright has suggested that Tottenham would be a ‘real problem’ if they could sign someone like Christian Eriksen, as he told Premier League Productions (19/05/22 at 1:15 pm).

The 30-year-old is thriving in Brentford colours, but Wright feels that Spurs would be a ‘real problem’ with a player of his ilk.

After Eriksen’s collapse at Euro 2020, the midfield magician had to take a break from the game and returned in Brentford colours during the January transfer window.

At the time, the Bees were struggling and needed picking up, as Eriksen showcased why he is one of the best by only losing only one game he has started for the London-based side.

Either way, Wright thinks Tottenham ‘need creativity’ in the middle of the park, as he threw Eriksen’s name into the hat.

“They need creativity in the midfield Tottenham,” said Wright. “They need something.

“They need a Christian Eriksen-type of player who can knit that team together and then Tottenham are going to be a real problem for people.”

ERIKSEN WOULD IMPROVE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE-BOUND TOTTENHAM

Whilst a certain Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son prove to be one of the best partnerships in the world, Spurs are still missing that creative touch in midfield.

Antonio Conte, who signed Eriksen from Spurs when he was Inter Milan, plays a two-man midfield – both defensive-minded players.

But, ever since Eriksen has left, the north London club haven’t replaced him and if he were to re-join, then he would elevate this Champions League-bound side.

However, given what the faith Brentford and Thomas Frank showed in Eriksen, will he want to repay that back and stay on? Or will he feel he has already done that?

Either way, he has a big call to make this summer.
