Writing in his column for Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano has delivered some much-needed good news for Arsenal supporters.
You don’t need us to tell you that Gunners fans have had a tough week. Their loss to Newcastle on Monday has left their Champions League dreams in tatters, and the mood around the club is incredibly low.
However, as always, Romano has some news for Arsenal fans, and this should perk a few Gunners supporters up.
Indeed, according to the journalist, a meeting has been scheduled with Bukayo Saka about his new contract, and according to Romano, Arsenal’s Champions League setback hasn’t changed his opinion on signing a new deal.
What’s been said?
Romano shared what he knows about Saka’s contract talks.
“Arsenal have suffered a huge setback in their bid to land in the top four, but I have more reassuring news for you here, Gunners fans,” he Wrote.
“Arsenal have a meeting scheduled with Bukayo Saka’s agent at the end of the current season. There will be a direct discussion because the club is preparing the proposal for the extension of the contract, and from the player there has always been a positive feeling.”
“At the moment there are no changes related to the situation for the Champions League spot race: Saka is in love with Arsenal, but obviously the negotiations are still at early stages. As of today, Saka is not yet negotiating with other clubs, even if you may have heard murmurings about interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.”

Fantastic news
After such a torrid week, Arsenal fans needed to hear some good news, and this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Saka is a star already, and at the age of just 20, he’s only going to improve.
Yes, Arsenal are unlikely to be playing Champions League football next season, but if they’re eyeing up a top four finish in 2023, then keeping Saka at the Emirates will be vital.
It looks as though Mikel Arteta’s side will continue to build on this brilliant young core.
