According to The Sun, Southampton have joined Tottenham and West Ham in the race to bring VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, the 24-year-old could be leaving VfB Stuttgart as a hero.

The Austria international scored a vital goal on the final day of the Bundesliga season to help VfB Stuttgart avoid a relegation play-off on goal difference.

As seen in the image above, Kalajdzic was hoisted onto the shoulders of supporters during the celebrations, as he was in floods of tears.

Now, the towering striker could leave for the Premier League with his hero status intact at VfB Stuttgart.

The Sun believe Southampton are keen on signing Kalajdzic, regardless of whether Chelsea allow them to keep Armando Broja.

It comes after Tottenham and West Ham were also credited with an interest in the VfB Stuttgart No.9, who is valued at £17m.

So far this season, while missing many games with a shoulder injury, Kalajdzic has scored six goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances, while also providing two assists.

Last term, when he was fully fit, the Austrian showed what he can really do with 17 goals in 36 games to his name, as well as six assists.

Southampton, Tottenham or West Ham could get Peter Crouch 2.0

Whoever wins the race to sign Kalajdzic could be getting the second coming of Peter Crouch.

The 6ft 6in frontman has actually been compared to the 41-year-old, who spent time with Tottenham and Southampton during his impressive career.

If Kalajdzic is anything like Crouch, then fans of Spurs and the Saints will surely be interested in this news, as he did very well for both clubs.

With his 6ft 6in frame, and clear eye for goal, the Austrian could become a huge success in the Premier League, and all for just £17m, which really isn’t much for a 24-year-old.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen this summer.
