David Moyes’s West Ham United are leading the race for Tottenham Hotspur transfer target and West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to The Athletic.
Johnstone is out of contract at West Brom this summer, and both West Ham and Tottenham reportedly want to sign the goalkeeper on a free transfer.
West Ham are leading the race for the 29-year-old goalkeeper, according to the report.
This will come as a blow for Tottenham.
Only earlier this month, The Mirror reported that Tottenham are confident of signing the former Manchester United prospect, described as “outstanding” by former Spurs striker Gary Lineker on Twitter in March 2021.

Tottenham or West Ham for Sam Johnstone?
In our opinion, Sam Johnstone will not find it easy to decide between Tottenham and West Ham in the summer transfer window.
Both Spurs and the Hammers are established clubs in the Premier League, and both have European aspirations.
And both Tottenham and West Ham have ageing goalkeepers.
Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is 35, while West Ham’s number one Łukasz Fabiański is 37.
Johnstone is 29 now and is at the top of his game.
In our opinion, Johnstone should move to a club where he will play regular first-team football.
