Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are confident of signing West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, according to The Mirror.
The report has claimed that Tottenham are favourites to sign Johnstone and are set to secure his services in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United have reportedly decided not to press ahead with their interest in the 29-year-old.
Described as “outstanding” by Tottenham legend Gary Lineker on Twitter in March 2021, Johnstone is out of contract at Championship club West Brom at the end of the season and is attractive to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, according to The Mirror.
Sam Johnstone would be a smart signing for Tottenham
In our opinion, Johnstone would be a smart signing for Tottenham and would make Spurs better.

The 29-year-old is at the top of his game at the moment and would be able to challenge first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris straightaway.
Now, of course, Lloris is a very good goalkeeper, but Tottenham need to find a long-term successor to the Frenchman.
Johnstone has played thrice for England and has huge potential, and he could become the number one goalkeeper at Tottenham.
We think that Tottenham would make a great signing in Johnstone.
