Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has given his view on the rumours linking Sadio Mane with a move to Bayern Munich.
The Senegalese winger is in red hot form right now, and with just one year remaining on his contract, there’s plenty of speculation ongoing about his future.
Bayern Munich have been strongly linked with a move for Mane this week, and these rumours started after Bayern had a meeting with the ROOF agency that represents Mane.
However, ROOF don’t just represent Mane, they look after a number of top players across Europe, and one of those is reported Bayern target Konrad Laimer.
According to Romano, Bayern’s meeting with Mane’s agents was in fact about Laimer, not Mane.

“The rumours started because there was a meeting with Bayern and Roof, the agency that works with Sadio Mane, last week, it was a direct meeting, but from what I’m told is that it was a meeting about Laimer the midfielder from Leipzig, he is a target for Bayern, not about Mane,” Romano said.
The rumour mill
As ever, Romano is the man with the real story, and we can absolutely understand how this Mane to Bayern rumour started up.
Someone somewhere will have caught wind of Bayern’s meeting with ROOF, and with Mane out of contract in a years’ time and Bayern being such a high-calibre club, it seemed easy to connect those dots.
Sadly, it seems as though many have put two and two together to make five in this scenario, Bayern actually want to sign Konrad Laimer, and it seems as though this Mane story is wide of the mark.
Liverpool will reportedly try to sign Mane onto a new contract this summer, and it looks like a move to Bavaria isn’t on the cards for the Reds’ star man.
