Aston Villa are making another push to sign Marseille talent Boubacar Kamara having held more talks with the free agent midfielder.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Villa have held another round of negotiations over a deal to sign Kamara.
It’s noted that Steven Gerrard has been to scout Kamara and that’s something we pondered last month.
Gerrard was spotted watching Marseille in action against Nantes in April, with Christian Purslow and Johan Lange alongside him.
It was unclear who Villa were scouting but Kamara was a sensible guess given Villa’s long-standing interest in the midfielder.
Villa allegedly want to sign a holding midfield player very quickly and that’s why talks with Kamara have been ramped up again.
Kamara, 22, is out of contract this summer and looks set to leave Marseille with no new agreement in sight.
That will be an emotional decision for Kamara given that he was born in Marseille and came up through their ranks, but his exit is imminent.
Kamara has been a key player this season, racking up 45 appearances for Marseille across all competitions.
In March, the Northern Echo claimed that Newcastle United were also in talks to sign Kamara on a free transfer this summer.

Newcastle are a major threat in any transfer race thanks to PIF’s investment but Villa are attempting to ensure that they don’t miss out.
Villa may find negotiations a little tricky though as The Sun reported in January that Kamara is demanding a deal of around £150,000-a-week.
That would make Kamara one of Villa’s biggest earners and, even though he would be a free transfer, this would still be another signal of intent from Villa.
Gerrard was backed in January with deals for Lucas Digne and Philippe Coutinho, with Kamara potentially set to join too.
This would add to the question marks over Douglas Luiz’s future though, as Gerrard seems adamant about signing a defensive midfielder like Kamara.
