Tammy Abraham to Arsenal is a transfer rumour that simply isn’t going away.
Last summer, the England international was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal from Chelsea, his club at the time.
With Abraham being a boyhood Gooner, the former Blues hitman was thought to favour a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Nothing materialised, however, and the player wound up joining Jose Mourinho’s Roma for £34 million.
But it looks like Abraham is an Arsenal target again this summer.
In April, The Daily Star reported that the Emirates Stadium outfit would be trying again to sign the striker, who has 25 goals across all competitions following an excellent first season under Mourinho so far.
And now Calciomercato in Italy have reported that Arsenal are very ‘insistent’ on bringing him to back to London, which is what they reported on Thursday.
However, the same publication has claimed that the man himself has ‘no intention’ of leaving the Serie A club, adding that he only has eyes for Mourinho and Roma.
Missed opportunity
Honestly, Arsenal messed up by not signing him last summer.
Despite Chelsea being a Premier League rival, a transfer was a lot more plausible last year and if Edu and Mikel Arteta genuinely do still want him, they’ll have to accept that they probably missed their shot.
The Gunners will absolutely be signing a couple of centre-forwards this summer, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah likely to be leaving on free transfers, but Abraham won’t be replacing one of those two marksmen.
