Yesterday, Arsenal and Tottenham target Tammy Abraham made history for Roma in their UEFA Conference League semi-final win over Leicester.
The 24-year-old scored the only goal of the game, as José Mourinho defeated his old protégée Brendan Rodgers by a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.
In doing so, Abraham shattered a 94-year-old record.
What’s the story?
Well, before the England international arrived in Italy, no player had scored more goals in their debut season for Roma than Rodolfo Volk in 1928, who netted 24.
With his winning goal against Leicester, however, Abraham has now scored 25 goals for Roma this season, breaking the record in some style.
Even the great Gabriel Batistuta only managed to score 21 goals in his debut campaign for Roma, so it is a phenomenal achievement for the Londoner.

It comes after Arsenal and Tottenham were said to be interested in bringing Abraham back to the Premier League, after he left Chelsea in 2021.
Interestingly, the towering striker is an Arsenal fan, so it’s possible that he leaves Rome for a chance to shine at his boyhood club.
Arsenal need Tammy Abraham more than Tottenham
In our view, Arsenal need Abraham far more than Tottenham do.
Antonio Conte already has one of the best strikers on the planet in Harry Kane, whereas Mikel Arteta will soon have no centre-forward with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah becoming free agents in June.
The Gunners have a bright London-based attacking core of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, so if Abraham was signed to play with the talented duo, we could see magic at the Emirates Stadium next season.

In truth, if Arteta does manage to sign Abraham, he’ll probably need another striker, with both Lacazette and Nketiah leaving.
Having said that, there are plans to make one last attempt to keep the latter, following some impressive performances of late.
Nevertheless, keep an eye on Arsenal this summer, as we’re expecting activity in the transfer market.
