Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Besiktas star Ridvan Yilmaz – but Stuttgart have joined them in the race for his signature.
Let’s start with Tottenham’s pursuit of Yilmaz.
Turkiye Gazetesi report that Tottenham have made a first bid of €8million (£6.78million) for Yilmaz.
Besiktas want a little more for Yilmaz, valuing him at €10million (£8.45million), with Yilmaz allegedly keen on the move to Tottenham.
Until a deal is done, Tottenham risk missing out and Stuttgart now want him.
Kicker claim that Stuttgart want to sign Yilmaz having been scouting him for more than two years now.
Stuttgart would want to sign Yilmaz if their star left back Borna Sosa moves on this summer.
Intriguingly, one of the clubs heavily linked with Sosa is… Tottenham.
Reports from Germany in February suggested that Tottenham were keen to sign Sosa this summer.
Antonio Conte doesn’t seem entirely convinced by Sergio Reguilon and Croatian ace Sosa offers another option at left wing back.
Sosa, 24, has racked up eight assists in all competitions this season and is known for his superb crossing ability.
Sosa is even compared to David Beckham for his crossing and set piece ability, which has to be exciting for Tottenham fans.
For Stuttgart though, this has to be annoying. Clubs like Tottenham want Sosa, so they go and focus on a potential replacement and it turns out Tottenham want him too.
Fabio Paratici loves to have various irons in the fire and this situation seems no different.
Stuttgart, who are battling against relegation from the Bundesliga, won’t want to lose Sosa and then miss out on Yilmaz too.
Tottenham’s interest in both players is an unwanted complication for Sven Mislintat, the former Arsenal man who is Stuttgart’s sporting director.
Any Tottenham move surely depends on Reguilon or Ryan Sessegnon moving on, but keep an eye on both Sosa and Yilmaz this summer.
