Arsenal are poised to open the bidding for Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus by offering around £35million for his signature this summer.

The rumours surrounding Jesus to Arsenal have really ramped up over the last week.

The Athletic reported last weekend that Edu had been in talks with the striker’s representatives for months.

Arsenal are therefore considered to be favourites for Jesus.

David Ornstein has since added that Jesus seems keen on the move and talks with his agent are pretty much ‘done and dusted’.

The problem for Arsenal is that Jesus suddenly can’t stop scoring.

The Brazilian smashed four goals against Watford on Saturday and then bagged the second in the 4-3 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday.

City may not love the idea of selling Jesus – a player branded ‘fantastic’ by Pep Guardiola – but it may be necessary.

Jesus is out of contract in 2023 and may be sold this summer before he leaves for absolutely nothing.

Football London now claim that Arsenal are expected to start their bidding at around £35million for Jesus this summer.

It’s added that Arsenal have been chasing Jesus since November with Edu making contact to try and set up a deal.

City want to increase the striker’s valuation, hence his additional playing time of late, but that seems like a strong offer.

Jesus can leave for free in a year’s time so £35million absolutely shouldn’t be sniffed at by City.

It doesn’t break the bank for Arsenal either when you consider the prices being mentioned for Victor Osimhen, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and more.

You can understand why this deal would appeal to Arsenal and why Mikel Arteta would want Jesus.

Arteta worked with Jesus at City and will know that the Brazilian is so good off the ball, both in terms of his movement and his pressing ability.

Those attributes would just give Arsenal something different in attack, and big Champions League goals show that Jesus can be the goalscorer Arteta needs.
