Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to sign Raheem Sterling, but Manchester City reportedly do not want to let him go.
The Daily Star reported in late January that Arsenal want to sign Sterling from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
The same publication claimed only last month that defending English champions City are willing to sell the former Liverpool star for £80 million.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has now reported on Twitter that City have held talks with Sterling over a new deal.

Could Raheem Sterling leave Manchester City for Arsenal?
In our opinion, it is unlikely that Sterling will leave Manchester City for Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Now, of course, we know that Arsenal are a big club and a global brand who could end up in the Premier League top four this season.
However, the Gunners are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title anytime soon, and we know that Sterling is used to winning and competing for major trophies.
Moreover, we do not think that Arsenal will pay £80 million for a 27-year-old.
So, in our view, a transfer for Sterling from Arsenal to Manchester City in the summer transfer window is unlikely.
