Tottenham Hotspur may have real hope of signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes with the LIgue 1 club keen to offload.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who share an interesting claim about Paredes undergoing surgery recently.
Paredes recently had season-ending surgery having suffered form pubalgia for a while.
It’s now suggested that PSG wanted to get that surgery out of the way now so there is no chance of a summer transfer being ruined.
PSG seemingly didn’t want to have a situation where Paredes delayed his surgery until the summer and then clubs were put off.
With the surgery done, Paredes can now focus on rehabilitation and then potentially prepare himself for a summer move.
One of the main suitors for Paredes appears to be Tottenham.
Calciomercato claim that Tottenham are interested in signing Paredes with Fabio Paratici believed to be a long-term fan.
Tottenham actually wanted Paredes in January as part of a swap for Tanguy Ndombele. However, The Athletic suggested that Paredes wasn’t so keen on Spurs.
Tottenham seemingly haven’t backed away from Paredes though and remain hopeful that they can change his mind this summer.
Combative and aggressive whilst being more than adept on the ball, Paredes has mostly played as a holding or box-to-box midfielder.

You can certainly imagine Paredes dovetailing with Rodrigo Bentancur in the Tottenham midfield.
Paredes having his surgery early certainly makes him more appealing to Tottenham, who will of course want players on board early.
The big task remains convincing Paredes to move.
Champions League football would certainly help, with Tottenham chasing a top-four finish under Conte.
Without that though, Tottenham may struggle to convince Paredes to leave a European superpower in PSG for North London.
