Mohamed-Ali Cho was wanted by West Ham United and Liverpool before joining Everton as a youngster, the winger’s mother tells Ouest France amid reports of a potential return to the Premier League.

If RMC Sport are to be believed, the 18-year-old whizzkid could be on his way back to Merseyside in the summer.

And, after the season from hell at Goodison Park, the last thing Everton supporters need is to see their one-that-got-away become the latest exciting young forward blossom into an elite-level attacking superstar under Jurgen Klopp.

Cho turned down the chance to extend his stay with The Toffees in 2020, shortly before becoming the second-youngest player ever to sign a professional contract on the other side of the Channel, behind only Real Madrid’s former Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga.

Cho’s sparkling displays at Angers have caught the eye of not only Liverpool but a who’s who of bonafide European A-listers.

But, according to the teenager’s mother, this is not the first time the quadruple-chasing Reds have made their interest known.

Back to Merseyside?

“The English are very quick with their scouting. (Cho joined Everton) because the sporting project was more advanced than at other teams (in the area), like Liverpool and the two from Manchester (City and United),” she explains.

Cho, likened to Kylian Mbappe, was also on West Ham’s radar before heading back to France.

“In London, Momo had been spotted by West Ham. But because we were returning to France, he never played there,” Cho’s mother adds.

Reports earlier this year suggested that Angers would demand £35 million for Cho. The teenager is reportedly a target for, among others, Leicester City and Southampton.

According to Sky, however, a bid of just £12 million may be enough to do the trick.

Eintracht Frankfurt – a club with a fine track record for finding, developing and then selling on talented youngsters like Cho – are the first side to make a bid.
