Inter Milan are reportedly close to agreeing on a deal to sign Arsenal target Paulo Dybala, but the Nerazzurri are first hoping to offload Alexis Sanchez in order to financially afford the transfer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the reigning Serie A champions are closing on the Argentine international, who is set to leave Juventus at the end of this season upon the expiration of his contract, though Inter must first offload one of their highest-earners if they are to sign Dybala.

As per the report, the two names in contention to be sold were Lautaro Martinez and Sanchez, with Inter eventually deciding on the former Arsenal hero, who Simone Inzaghi has deemed surplus to requirements for next season.

Whilst the Chilean international has featured regularly for Inter in recent weeks, Dybala’s world-class quality would make him an instant impact over Sanchez next season, much to the dismay of Arsenal.

90min claim that the Gunners were one of the numerous Premier League sides chasing Dybala, though it now appears that Inter will win the race for the Juventus superstar this summer.

As one of the top attackers in world football, Dybala would have been an exceptional signing for Arsenal, though, given Mikel Arteta’s transfer plan for the north London side, the 28-year-old forward doesn’t quite fit the criteria for what the Gunners boss is looking for this summer.

As mentioned, a striker of Dybala’s quality would have been perfect for Arsenal this summer, however, given the Argentine’s age and style of play, the Gunners won’t be too upset that the forward is close to signing for Inter.

After all, Arteta’s system is more suited to a striker who is physically imposing and can bully defenders whilst also bringing attacking midfielders into the frontline, something Dybala can’t do, despite his exceptional talents.
