Fabrizio Romano has said that reported Tottenham target Ivan Perisic will sit down with Inter Milan in the coming weeks to discuss a new contract at the club.

The Italian journalist posted on Twitter that a new meeting has been scheduled between the Croatian superstar and the Serie A giants, with Perisic impressive for Inter in recent weeks.

The Nerazzurri are once again right in the thick of the Scudetto title race, with Perisic once again reprising his role as a key player for Inter, like he did for Antonio Conte last season.

And now, the club are working on signing the winger down to a new contract despite his age, with Inter keen to fight off interest in Perisic from the likes of Tottenham to keep the 32-year-old in Milan.

The Mirror originally reported that Tottenham were interested in Perisic, with Arsenal also keen on the former Bayern Munich star, who Inter signed in 2015 for around £15m and has since become a staple for the European titans.

Indeed, interest is high in Perisic, yet with Inter now set to open contract talks over their star winger, Tottenham could be left in the dust in their attempts to sign the former Bundesliga attacker.

With Inter continuing to tie Perisic down to a new contract, this latest update is a hammer blow for Tottenham, who could have been an ideal next club for the Croatian international.

Under Conte, Perisic could have brought some experience to the Tottenham squad and a cool mentality in their quest to win silverware with the Italian, though the winger now looks set to remain in Serie A with Inter.
