Mattias Svanberg could leave Bologna at the end of the season and now has Everton and West Ham United eying his transfer, joining Tottenham Hotspur in their reported pursuit.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who note I Rossoblu may cash in on the 23-year-old this year. Svanberg will enter the last 12 months of his contract at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in June. So, club chiefs in Emilia-Romagna are keen to avoid the Swede going for free in 2023.

Everton and West Ham are now paying close attention to developments in Bologna as they consider Svanberg for a transfer. Frank Lampard and David Moyes are eager to strengthen their engine rooms during the off-season to improve their respective goals for next season.

The Toffees will hope Lampard is able to guide the Goodison Park outfit clear of relegation from the Premier League and then up the table next term. The Irons, meanwhile, will have eyes on another push for the European places, amid possibly another Europa League run.

But Everton and West Ham may face competition from Tottenham if they target a transfer for Bologna’s attacking midfielder, Svanberg. iNews noted Spurs were the frontrunners for the 18-cap star in January due to their Italian links with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici.

Manchester City have also scouted the Sweden maestro who cost Bologna £4m this term, but Paratici offers Spurs a boost. Tottenham’s managing director has links with Svanberg’s Serie A side, and also sought to rival Bologna for his transfer from Malmo while at Juventus.

Inter Milan also admire the Malmo native, who has scored three and created two goals in 29 Serie A games this season. AC Milan, too, have not stopped scouting the Swedish star.

iNews add that Svanberg turned down a new contract at Bologna late in 2021 to increase the chances he leaves. A source in Italy also lauded him while speaking to the publication.

“He’s probably one of the top four or five No.8’s in Europe. That’s how good he is,” the unnamed source told iNews. “He’s a very talented young man. He’s playing for a very defensive Bologna side, but he can bring a spark to whichever team he plays in.

“Spurs already know him very, very well because of the Italians involved in the club now. Anyone who has seen him play for Bologna will tell you that he’s the sort of player that Conte would enjoy working with.”
