Celtic transfer target Christopher Scott has turned down a new contract at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, BILD reporter Christian Falk explains on Twitter.
How many times in the last couple of transfer windows have Rangers signed a player who has immediately improved their starting XI?
Aaron Ramsey, when fit, is an obvious answer. Some may argue John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe or Leon Balogun.
The reality is, however, that this season’s Scottish Premiership title race will be won not just one the pitch but in the boardroom too.
Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic defeated their Old Firm rivals for the second time since the turn of the year on Sunday – moving six points clear at the top – and it felt fitting that it was one of this season’s new faces who won the game, Cameron Carter-Vickers’ tap-in the icing on top of a faultless defensive performance.
The much-maligned Carl Starfelt was as solid as we’ve seen him alongside Carter-Vickers at centre-back. Joe Hart rolled back the years with a superb save to deny Fashion Sakala an equaliser. Filipe Jota, Giorgios Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda, Josip Juranovic and Reo Hatate all played their part too.
Celtic’s next bargain signing?
The Hoops have signed 14 senior players since last summer. All but probably two – James McCarthy and the crocked Yosuke Ideguchi – can be considered a success. So Celtic have certainly earned the benefit of the doubt as they press ahead for a 19-year-old who’s played just 32 minutes of first-team football so far in his career.
Sky Deutschland broke the news last week that Celtic, as well as Brentford, are targeting Bayern Munich’s Christopher Scott. The Hoops are ‘serious contenders’ to secure his signature, potentially for a bargain £250,000.
And, according to Falk, the highly-rated Scott has turned down Bayern’s offer of a new deal. He’s valued very highly at the Allianz Arena, training regularly with the first-team and having been handed his Bundesliga debut by Hansi Flick.

A technically-gifted attacking midfielder, Scott has been likened to Chelsea’s £71 million man Kai Havertz.
