Jamie Carragher has criticised Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris on Sky Sports Premier League (5:10pm, April 3, 2022) for the role he played in the goal that Newcastle United scored in the first half at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs goalkeeper Lloris could not keep the ball out, and former Liverpool defender Carragher has criticised the £8 million France international (The Daily Mail).

Carragher said: “Really poor from the goalkeeper. Yes, there are Newcastle players in front of him, but even if he doesn’t see it until a little bit later, try it out.”
Lloris could have and should have done better for the Newcastle goal in the first half.
But, fortunately for the French goalkeeper, his mistake did not cost Antonio Conte’s side in the end.
Tottenham stepped up their game in the second half and won against Newcastle with ease.
Spurs have enhanced their chances of finishing in the Premier League top four this season with the win.
There is still a long way to go, but the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful should be optimistic and excited.
Tottenham are flying under Conte, who is showing just how good a manager he is.
