Napoli are reportedly angry with star striker and rumoured Arsenal target Victor Osimhen, who is yet to return to the Serie A side following the end of the March international break.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian giants are ‘furious’ at the 23-year-old attacker after Osimhen failed to return to Naples from Nigeria after the international break, with the forward’s antics causing a sense of irritation amongst his club teammates.
Osimhen was part of the Super Eagles side that were eliminated from FIFA World Cup qualifying by Ghana, with Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey scoring the decisive away goal that would see Nigeria lose out on a spot for this winter’s competition in Qatar.
And now, the striker has failed to return to Italy following on from Nigeria’s elimination from the World Cup, an issue which does not bode well for Osimhen’s future at Napoli, with Arsenal said to be interested in the striker.
As reported by Napoli Piu, the Gunners are plotting a bid for the former LOSC Lille star this summer, with the Serie A side only willing to sell Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window for a club-record €100m (£84m).
Indeed, given Arsenal’s desperate need for a star striker this summer, Osimhen could be a sensational addition to the club, and the forward’s antics this weekend can only hint that the 23-year-old is not too pleased about returning to Napoli for the remainder of the season.
Osimhen could land Arsenal move following latest episode with Napoli

Arsenal’s hunt for a starting striker will be one of the most interesting to follow in the summer transfer window, and Osimhen could be an option if the attacker is looking to force a move from Napoli this year.
After all, Osimhen has been sensational for the Serie A side since joining in 2020, and a move to a bigger club could well be on the cards if the striker is pulling episodes like this with Napoli, much to the amusement of Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, who could see this weekend’s news as an opening to sign the Nigerian.
