Ian Wright has said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show that he does not think that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips wants to stay at Elland Road.

The Arsenal legend believes that Leeds star Phillips wants to win trophies, which he is unlikely to do at the West Yorkshire club.

The MOTD pundit believes that Leeds will lose winger Raphinha at the end of the season.

According to a report in 90min earlier in the week, Arsenal have registered their interest in 26-year-old England international midfielder Phillips.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano said on The Here We Go Podcast this week that Barcelona are leading the race for Raphinha, but Arsenal have asked about the 25-year-old.

Wright said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show, as transcribed by MOTLeedsNews: “A lot of big teams need a player in that position. He’s a sought-after player.

“Phillips doesn’t strike me as a player who wants to play for Leeds. He wants to win things.

“Leeds need to start putting things in place where they’re challenging for Europe for the likes of him and Raphinha to stay but I think Raphinha will leave[this summer].”

Kalvin Phillips could stay at Leeds United

In our opinion, Kalvin Phillips could stay at Leeds, especially if they are able to retain their Premier League status for next season.

Now, of course, if the Whites get relegated, then a big offer could be tempting for the club’s chiefs.

Phillips himself may wish to leave to fulfil his personal ambitions.

The midfielder is a Leeds fan, and we do not think that he will force a move away from Elland Road.

If Leeds survive in the Premier League, then they are likely to demand a huge transfer fee.
