Wolverhampton Wanderers technical director Scott Sellars has told The Express & Star that the club are now in talks with reported Arsenal target Ruben Neves over a new contract.
Sellars has said that Neves, linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window, will be on the radar of a number of clubs.
The Wolves official has said that the Portugal international is “ambitious”, adding that the Premier League club are in talks with the 25-year-old over a new deal.
The London Evening Standard reported this month that Neves is a long-term target of Arsenal.
The Sun claimed in February that Arsenal are keen to sign the Portugal international midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The report added that Wolves value Neves at £45 million.
Sellars told The Express & Star about Neves: “We’re obviously talking to him and we all know how much he loves playing for the club. We know how much he has settled here, but he is also an ambitious young man.
“As with all players, you try and have an open dialogue with them and their representatives to come to the best scenario for the club and the player.
“Rightly so, elite clubs all over Europe will have Ruben on their radar, but we have an excellent relationship with him and will do things properly, and collaboratively, when the time is right.”

Could Arsenal sign Ruben Neves from Wolves?
In our opinion, Arsenal are going to find it difficult to sign Neves from Wolves now that talks over a new deal have started.
The Wanderers clearly do not want to sell the Portuguese in the summer transfer window.
Now, of course, Neves may not agree to a new deal, but that Wolves want him to sign fresh terms suggests that if Arsenal come calling, then they would not find it easy to negotiate with their Premier League rivals.
