AS Roma have set a £100m price tag for Tammy Abraham after a stunning first season in Italy, with Arsenal linked with the striker last year before leaving Chelsea.

According to the Daily Mail, the Serie A side are eager to keep hold of their star attacker this summer, who has attracted interest from top Premier League clubs after a sensational debut year with Roma, with Abraham hitting 23 goals in all competitions.

As per the Athletic, the former Chelsea star was keen on a move to Arsenal, with Abraham a fan of the Gunners during his youth. However, a transfer never materialised as the north London side opted to not sign a striker last summer.

This year, though, the situation could not be more different for Mikel Arteta’s side, with Arsenal making a new marquee striker their top priority as both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah look set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer at the end of their contracts.

Yet one player who could now prove too expensive for Arsenal is Abraham, with Roma setting a price tag that will equal Manchester City’s British record £100m transfer for Jack Grealish last year, a fee that the Gunners will struggle to match.

Indeed, whilst there are reports Arsenal will spend big on a striker this summer and Abraham does fit the profile of what Arteta wants to lead the line, the Roma star will simply be too expensive for the Gunners, who will move for a cheaper option.

Abraham was linked with Arsenal last year, and it’s safe to say that the Gunners missed out on the England international with the striker now flourishing at Roma and attracting Premier League interest.

With the Gunners now eager to sign a striker in the mould of Abraham, Arsenal missed a trick in signing the forward last year even with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on their books, and Roma’s demands make a transfer neigh-impossible for the north London side.
