Rangers are interested in bringing Benjamin Siegrist to Ibrox – but they now face a battle with Manchester United for the Dundee United goalkeeper.
The Swiss shot-stopper is out of contract this summer and looks set to leave Tannadice on a free transfer.
The Daily Mail reported in January that Rangers were planning a pre-contract deal for Siegrist, but faced competition from England.
With Allan McGregor out of contract this summer, Rangers may well be eyeing up Siegrist for a move to Ibrox.
Chris Sutton has hailed Siegrist as a ‘brilliant’ goalkeeper, urging Celtic to sign him before Rangers win the race.
Celtic may not be the biggest problem for Rangers though, with Manchester United now believed to be in the running.
The Sun claim that United sent their goalkeeper scout Tony Coton to watch Siegrist for Dundee United against Celtic last week.
Coton is already aware of Siegrist; when he was working at Aston Villa, Siegrist was on the books at Villa Park.
Siegrist never made a first-team appearance for Villa and had made just 37 career appearances before heading to Dundee United in 2018.

Now 30, Siegrist has become one of the top goalkeepers in Scotland and has more than earned a big move this summer.
United seemingly want to sign a goalkeeper as cover for David De Gea given there is a belief that Dean Henderson will be leaving.
Sam Johnstone is another goalkeeper set to become a free agent, and is another player both Rangers and Manchester United want to sign.
Taking on United is a daunting task for any club, and Rangers now have to hope that Siegrist fancies staying in Scotland.
Otherwise, we may see the shot-stopper make a move to Old Trafford that nobody could have predicted when leaving Aston Villa in 2016.
