River Plate star Enzo Fernandez has the potential to star at Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur amid reported interest from the Premier League duo, former Albiceleste international Dario Felman tells Tribal Football.
The newly-crowned Argentine champions have already lost one key player to an English giant since the turn of the year. Manchester City completed the signing of the prolific Julian Alvarez in January.
Enzo Fernandez could soon be following in Alvarez’s footsteps.
According to South American publication El Crack Deportivo, the balletic, box-to-box midfielder is a target not only for Arsenal and Spurs but also Everton, West Ham United and Aston Villa.
And with good reason.
Fernandez already looks like a central midfielder with plenty of strings to his bow. A ball-carrier and a ball-winner rolled into one. Coco Basile, the two-time Copa America winner, even describes 21-year-old Fernandez as ‘the best’ footballer player currently plying his trade in Argentina.
And that includes Julian Alvarez.
Is Enzo Fernandez heading to the Premier League?
“Enzo Fernandez is coming from a period at River Plate where they have won everything,” explains Felman. “When you have a good team that also means that you have some good individuals.
“Fernandez has technical ability but what he needs is to learn more about collective sacrifice, which he will find in European football. Once he has learned to combine the two, he could play for any team in Europe, like Arsenal and Tottenham.

“He really is that good, in terms of potential.”
Ready for Real Madrid?
Diego Lemme, the president of Fernandez’s former employers Defensa y Justicia, believes that the River Plate enforcer could one day be strutting his stuff in the iconic white shirt of Real Madrid (Ole).
Felman, however, insists Fernandez still has a long way to go on his footballing journey.
“I don’t really see Enzo Fernández playing for Real Madrid,” Felman adds. “They are on another level. A team looking for complete players like (Kylian) Mbappe and (Erling) Haaland.
“I see Enzo Fernandez more likely playing in the Premier League.”
