BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks was full of praise for Martin Odegaard following Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Leicester City on the weekend.

Writing in his Team of the Week column, the former attacker was impressed by the Norwegian’s performance at the Emirates Stadium, with Odegaard running the show for Arsenal as the Gunners secured another huge result against Leicester.

Odegaard created five chances in the first half alone as the 23-year-old enjoyed one of his best games yet for Arsenal, with the north London side sitting pretty in fourth spot with three games in hand over Manchester United in fifth.

Indeed, things could not be better for Arsenal, who have won their last five games in the Premier League. And whilst they face an almighty test in Liverpool this Wednesday, the Gunners and Odegaard are in spectacular form to feel confident about getting a result.

Top-four is firmly in Arsenal’s hands, and if they can come away from this week with a win against Liverpool or Aston Villa, the Gunners could stand on the brink of a sensational season under Arteta, and Crooks believes Odegaard has been key for the club this campaign.

The BBC Sport pundit said: “In a performance that was not scintillating but professional, and I thought Leicester were poor, Odegaard looks a touch of class. Arsenal are turning out steady, consistent performances. I wish I could say the same about their neighbours.”

Arsenal signing Odegaard looks better and better each week

There was scepticism from some supporters and pundits when Arsenal decided to sign Odegaard permanently from Real Madrid in the summer, yet fast-forward to now, and the decision could not have gone any better for the Gunners.

Odegaard has become the creative heartbeat of the club and is improving each week with Arsenal, and his £30m move last summer is slowly becoming yet another bargain for the north London side, along with other moves Arteta made last year.
