Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are now facing competition from Barcelona for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves, according to Sport.
Sport have reported that Barcelona are looking at Wolves star Neves as a potential long-term replacement for veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets.
Neves’s agent is the well-known Jorge Mendes, who reportedly has a good relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
This will come as a blow for Arsenal, who have been linked with the Portugal international midfielder as well.
The London Evening Standard reported last week that Neves is a long-term target of the Gunners.
The Sun claimed in February that Arsenal are keen to sign the Portugal international midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The report added that Wolves value Neves at £45 million.

Arsenal or Barcelona for Ruben Neves?
In our view, Arsenal could miss out on Neves if the player himself wants to go to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Wolves are likely to cash in on the 25-year-old midfielder if they get a good offer.
Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are rebuilding under head coach Xavi, one of the greatest midfielders of all time.
The Blaugrana are an appealing club for any player, and Neves could be tempted by a move to Camp Nou.
