Gary Lineker has praised Liverpool winger Luis Diaz on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:47pm, March 12, 2022) following the game against Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker was impressed by Diaz’s performance for Liverpool in their 2-0 win against Brighton away from home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Diaz, who joined Liverpool from FC Porto in the January transfer window, scored in the 19th minute.
MOTD presenter Lineker has noted that the 25-year-old Colombia international winger has made an instant impact at Liverpool, and that is quite unusual.
Lineker said about Diaz: “It’s quite unusual, isn’t it, for a player particularly in the January window, coming from abroad, to make such an impact?
“He really has hit the ground running. He was excellent again. Looks like a brilliant signing.”

Luis Diaz already a Liverpool star
In our view, Diaz has become a Liverpool star already.
Yes, the 25-year-old has made only a handful of appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but the way he has taken to the Premier League is simply marvellous.
Like a duck to water.
The Liverpool no. 23 has scored two goals in five Premier League appearances.
Diaz also helped Liverpool win the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
Liverpool are aiming to win the Premier League and he Champions League as well this season.
In our opinion, Diaz will play a big role in that quest for the Reds.
