Martin Keown has raved about Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard in The Daily Mail.

The Arsenal legend has been hugely impressed by Odegaard, who has been superb for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this season.

The BBC Sport pundit has outlined the relationship the Norway international attacking midfielder has with Bukayo Saka on the pitch.

Keown wrote in The Daily Mail: “Thomas Partey acts as their deepest midfielder — the nightwatchman who patrols and protects the back four.

“Either side of Partey and pushing up high in midfield and into pockets of space are Granit Xhaka on the left and the increasingly influential Martin Odegaard on the right.

“The eye-catching Odegaard moves intelligently between the opposition’s defence and midfield and links up perfectly with Bukayo Saka.

“There’s a blossoming relationship developing between those two as Odegaard releases Saka so he can raid forward down that right wing, or he can also look inside to link up with Alexandre Lacazette instead.”

Martin Odegaard a big player for Arsenal

In our opinion, Odegaard has established himself as a big player for Arsenal and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The 23-year-old is doing extremely well at the moment and is showing why the Gunners paid £30 million to Real Madrid for the attacker (The Daily Mail).

The former Madrid player has grown into his role and is now a leader on the pitch in his own way.

Odegaard has made 19 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season.

The Arsenal no. 8 has scored five goals and provided three assists in those games.

The Norwegian is the player who acts as the playmaker and has vision.

In our view, for Arsenal to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, Odegaard will have to be on top of his game in the final weeks and months of the season.
