Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal wanted to sign Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus before the attacker moved to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to The London Evening Standard.
Arsenal wanted Dejan Kulusevski before Tottenham transfer
The report has claimed that Arsenal considered signing a wide forward in January and held ‘preliminary talks over a loan’ for Kulusevski, who can operate as a winger, full-back, wing-back or attacking midfielder.
Arsenal tried to convince Juventus to let them take the 21-year-old Sweden international on loan by pointing to ‘Martin Odegaard as an example’ of how a successful loan could turn out.
As for Kulusevski, the winger was pleased by Tottenham’s offer and wanted to work under former Juventus and Inter Milan boss Conte and play regular football.
So the youngster – described as “outstanding” by former Arsenal star Paul Merson in SportsKeeda today – moved to Tottenham on loan from Juventus in the January transfer window.

Impressive start
In our view, Kulusevski has made a strong start at Tottenham and has hit the ground running.
The Swede as made four startst and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham.
The youngster has scored two goals and provided three assists in those games.
