Arsenal have reportedly scouted Aston Villa prospect Carney Chukwuemeka, who is regarded by many as one of the top midfield talents coming through in English football.
According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners are keeping tabs on the England youth international ahead of the summer transfer window. As per the report, Arsenal are set for another massive shopping spree with as many as six new signings being eyed by Mikel Arteta.
With Mohamed Elneny set to leave at the end of this season and Granit Xhaka again being linked with a move to AS Roma, central midfield is a massive area of the squad that needs recruitments, with Chukwuemeka seemingly a target for Arsenal.
Hailed by Ollie Watkins as a player with ‘unbelievable’ potential, Chukwuemeka is viewed by Villa fans and pundits as the next great talent from the academy, with Steven Gerrard already using the midfielder in numerous top-flight matches.
Although the 18-year-old is yet to establish himself in the Premier League, though, many expect Chukwuemeka to become a star one day in the future, which could explain Arsenal’s interest in the England U-19 international.
Indeed, Arteta has built the Arsenal squad around youth, with the Gunners having the youngest starting XI in the Premier League this season. And although Chukwuemeka wouldn’t be a straight starter for the north London side, their interest in the teenager shows that the club are keen to stick with their project.
Chukwuemeka could be a shrewd piece of business for Arsenal

This summer is already lining up to be another huge one for Arsenal, with a striker and a first-team calibre central midfielder the main areas Arteta is looking to upgrade, and Chukwuemeka could be a smart signing for the Gunners.
The youngster has already played Premier League football with Villa and is regarded by many as one of the club’s most exciting talents, and for Arsenal, Chukwuemeka could join the growing list of prospects that can lead the north London side to glory in the future.
