Ollie Watkins has stated that Aston Villa duo Jacob Ramsey and Carney Chukwuemeka are ‘top, top’ players, as he told VillaTV.

The England striker also added that with hard work, the thriving youngsters can become ‘unbelievable’ in Villa colours.

It was an evening to remember for the two Villa young guns on Tuesday night, as the Midlands outfit beat Norwich City 2-0 at Carrow Road.

Ramsey, who was handed his professional debut at 17 by Dean Smith, opened the scoring with a stunning solo effort against his former boss.

Then Chukwuemeka, who was also handed his Premier League debut by Smith last season, came off the bench to provide a brilliant assist for Watkins to wrap up the points.

The duo are going from strength to strength and Watkins was full of praise for his teammates, both on and off the pitch.

“I remember when I was in that position, at that age,” said Watkins. “But they are way ahead of me compared to where I was at that age.

“They have got the world at their feet really. Two top, top young players. I can’t speak highly enough of them really. Great people as well.

“If they keep working hard, they will be unbelievable. It’s nice to see them come onto the pitch, of course, the manager has shown them faith to come onto the pitch and show what they can do.”

Ramsey is more of a regular than Chukwuemeka, but both are earning a healthy amount of minutes under Steven Gerrard, so far.

There aren’t many better individuals to learn off for the rising stars than their legendary midfielder of a manager.

One thing he will want to see from them are more goal contributions and they showcased glimpses of what they were capable of at Norwich.

Whilst Smith was in the other dugout, he deserves praise for playing his part in their rise during his days as Villa boss.
