Premier League high-flyers West Ham United are weighing up summer bids for Hull City duo Keane Lewis-Potter and Jacob Greaves, as well as Bristol City’s Alex Scott, according to reports.
West Ham’s most effective front three is arguably made up of players all signed from Championship clubs.
Former Nottingham Forest forward Michail Antonio flanked by Jarrod Bowen, signed from Hull City, and one-time Brentford talisman Said Benrahma.
Craig Dawson, meanwhile, has spent the best part of 18 months silencing the critics who questioned his arrival from relegated West Brom in the summer of 2020.
So while the most vocal members of the anti-Gold and Sullivan brigade may view West Ham’s interest in a trio of second-tier stars as a lack of ambition, the London giants have surely earned the benefit of the doubt by now.
The next Jarrod Bowen?
According to 90Min, West Ham believe Lewis-Potter, another goalscoring winger plying his trade in the orange and black of Hull City, can emulate Bowen’s success in the capital.
The silky smooth Lewis-Potter, who’s been compared to Eden Hazard and Wayne Rooney, could cost just £12 million.
“He’s similar to how Eden Hazard plays,” Hull youth coach Craig Fagan tells The Athletic. “With that low centre of gravity, coming inside and shooting.
“He’s not as good as Hazard by any stretch of the imagination at this point. But he’s got the skills and abilities to be striving towards that.”
Tigers team-mate Jacob Greaves is also on West Ham’s radar.
The 21-year-old centre-back shone as Hull won the League One title in 2020/21. He’d add some depth to a Hammers defence hit by injuries in recent months.
“The kid is going to be special, it’s as simple as that,” said former Hull coach Grant McCann.
If his prediction comes true, Greaves could be an inspired addition to David Moyes’ squad. Just like Bowen was in January 2020.
According to Bristol Live, West Ham are ‘very interested’ in Bristol City’s 18-year-old midfield maestro Alex Scott too.
The versatile Scott, one of a number of exciting young players in Nigel Pearson’s squad, has also caught the eye of Everton and Leicester after bursting onto the scene at Ashton Gate.
