A host of Premier League clubs are looking to snatch Tottenham Hotspur loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers from under Celtic’s nose, TEAMtalk claiming that West Ham United, Wolves and Leicester City are interested.
Though on the evidence of the last few weeks – Tottenham losing three of their last four top-flight games to send Antonio Conte spiralling into an existential crisis – maybe Carter-Vickers could still have a part to play at his parent club.
The USA international joined Celtic last summer, his seventh different loan spell. And, with one trophy already in his grasp, he continues to go from strength to strength north of the border.
His leadership skills, passing range and uncompromising defensive instincts have made ‘CCV’ one of the first names on Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic team-sheet.
Can Celtic sign him?
“Cam has been great from the moment we brought him in,” Postecoglou beams. “He has had to come in and understand the way we want to play.
“He has been really consistent and he is improving all the time. He’s been a real strong, calming influence.”

Postecoglou admits that discussions over a permanent deal for Carter-Vickers ‘will be taking place’ sooner rather than later.
Celtic have negotiated a £10 million option-to-buy deal as part of the defender’s loan agreement.
But it remains to be seen if the Hoops are willing – or able – to shatter their transfer record for the Southend-born 24-year-old.
Will Tottenham sell Carter-Vickers?
TEAMtalk reports that, if talks break down, there are a host of other clubs ready to swoop.
Wolves boss Bruno Lage has already admitted that he wants a new defender. Leicester are crying out for reinforcements at the back too, particularly with niggling injuries keeping now-34-year-old Jonny Evans out of the starting XI.
Watford, Burnley, Middlesbrough, West Brom and Bournemouth are also keen. So too West Ham. Though how Spurs feel about selling a homegrown talent to their bitter rivals from down the road is anyone’s guess.
